Since when does a 400D have two engines, ad says both engines run good. Do they not know anything about the tractor they have for sale?

I would guess that the seller is simply stating that not only does the engine run good when starting on gasoline it also runs good when switched to diesel.

I didn't find that difficult to understand at all!

The wording could have been better. But overall the ad makes sense.

Maybe he has spare engine he is including with the tractor.
