Governor problem? Cub tractor

I was mowing with my cub and notice that the governor failed to respond, ,, Also the engine is running at about 3/4 toddle and if I try to reduce the RPM's it doesn't respond either will not come to idle or speed up. It was working fine before.

Check all the linkage from the throttle to the gov to the carb. Also look for missing or broken springs. If all that is good fire it up and try to move the linkage from the carb to the gov by hand and see if it tries to slow the engine down or speed it up. If it does not good chance you have a gov problem

There is a spring in the Gov that occasionally breaks that needs to be replaced. Also check thre connection where the throttle rod hhooks to the goc. Mine came apart once and caused all kinds of throttle problems in a parade.
