Hydraulic jack seals

Any body know of a source for hydraulic jack repair seals? I've got several bottle jacks and high lift jacks like those used on the portable cranes used to lift engines out tractors. It is almost always the seal in the pump plunger that goes bad and starts leaking. I hate to throw them out as it would be an easy fix with the right seals. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Phil,

You can try these guys. http://www.blackhawkparts.com/ They have listings for many jack manufacturers. The Parker Store on Perry Road, maybe Industrial Packing on Hammond Street,or other hydraulic shop in the area, might be able to match seals if you have them out.

I have some I want to reseal, but am coming to the conclusion that I can go to Harbor Freight, Walmart, etc. and buy a new jack for less than some of the seals and parts mine need. Those won't be the same quality as the old jacks but if one can't get the repair parts at a reasonable price for the old ones what do you do. I talked with a guy at Bragg's and they get parts from Blackhawk, since many of the manufacturers are gone or have been swallowed by another. It sounds like they but have pretty much stopped doing jack repairs, due to cost compared to new.

Labor costs have put an end to repairs on almost everything it seems. I hate to throw anything away that I can fix but parts availability is
getting to be a real problem. Most of the jacks are Chinese or some other foreign made. o-rings are what most of the seals are but they are a
mongrel size that don't come in a SAE or Metric kit. I may try Hackett Machine in Brewer they have helped me before.I'm even thinking of
making a new plunger with a standard o-ring groove. I have a lathe so it would not be a big problem. Worked for over 40 years as a machinist.

i saw a video on hydraulic jack repair & bleed. problem was universal o ring. for non std i call a hydr shop & w/ your given measurements they can send a kit. www.weaverhydrualics.com in pnn yan ny. mennonites. 315.536.6371 i used them for hydraulic wood splitter when oem kit was wrong. did it over phone.
