corn planting

I know you guys are from all over the US. I was wondering if there is a lot of late planting this year. We live in Il and there has been none or very little corn planted in our area due to all the rain and wet fields.

What part of Illinois? In Central Illinois near Springfield, there is a lot planted but I have not seen a planter in the field!

in southeast Indiana we have not gotten much done at all, very little corn in here. he have a short dry spell now but might get something done next few days but then another week of rain.

In the 18 states that grow most of the nation?s corn, only 58% of the crop had been planted as of last week ? a far cry from the 90% that would ordinarily be planted by that point. In states that grow nearly all of the soybeans, less than half of the normal crop had been planted. Farmers have even taken to Twitter ? creating a #noplant19 hashtag ? to commiserate and share photos of their swamped fields.

Everything is pretty much on time around here, but because of the cool, wet weather, the corn is just not growing. Not too far west of here planting is at a standstill and probably will not happen. The Army Corps of Engineers is doing there best to make sure the Missouri river will remain out of its banks for a long, long time.

In mid western Indiana there is still a bunch of corn that needs planting. Still a lot of ponding going on. Every time we have just enough drying it cuts loose again.
