IH 184 loboy

I'm having a fuel flow problem on my 184 loboy which I narrowed down to the fuel cap. It was badly corroded so I replaced it a few days ago with a new cap from the Case/IH dealer. Still having same problem; it runs for a while then the tank pulls a vacuum & the fuel stops flowing.

Now the tank was cleaned & treated with "Northern Tank Liner" about a year ago & is still clean. It doesn't seem likely, since these fuel tanks have a flat top, but I'm wondering if these tanks had some type of pin hole vent much like the old Ford 9N's & 2N's had. If it did the tank liner would have covered it.

The other possibility is that the dealer doesn't carry a vented cap.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,

Gary

I maybe completely wrong ,but I thought the tank has a vent pipe that points down from the top.

The cap I just got from Case/IH only has one hole so I'll take it back to them with the recall form that Jim forwarded to me.

Thanks for clearing this up for me gentlemen.

Yes, that's the wrong cap. Taking the form probably wont do any good, but you can try. HOWEVER, if even a new cap didn't stop the problem, you have other issues.
