Still having problems with the carb on my 184 Loboy. I've cleaned this thing out twice & put a new kit (NAPA) in it. The float is set at 1 5/32" as per the manual yet the tractor will start & run smoothly for a while then will stumble & kill with little warning. Fuel filter & air filter are clean & good fuel flow. Idle mixture screw is 1 full turn out.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Gary

try putting some tin foil on gas line near exh pipe. if you get to where you might need carb. I have two carb for that tr. 989 912 0083

How long does the tractor run before it quits? How are you determining you have a good fuel flow. You should pull the plug in the carb to do that and let it run out for several minutes. I would check fuel flow like that again immediately after the tractor quits running and that will tell you if its a fuel problem. You also mention a fuel filter. Do you have an in line filter or are you referring to the sediment bowl under the tank. In line filters can be a problem if they are the wrong type.

I may have found my problem. Upon opening the carb up again I noticed a little water pooled up. I then drained about a quart of fuel into a glass jar which revealed about an ounce or so of water in the fuel. Saturday I'll finally have time to put in back together & give it some clean gas.

The frequent rainfall & constant humidity combined with recent temperature swings here in South Louisiana apparently take a toll on your stored gasoline, which by the way, had Sta-bil in it.

I'm also gonna check my fuel cap vent.

Thanks for all the suggestions boys,

Gary

Thanks for the suggestion Charlie. I've got the tractor up & running after draining the old gas out & putting on a new fuel cap.

Tractor runs pretty well now although it stumbles on occasion at high RPM when mowing. It's not a frequent problem but it does show up now & then. I have the timing set per the manual at idle speed so nut understanding why it unless it's an idle mixture screw adjustment that's needed.

Thanks again,

Gary

Idle mixture has nothing to do with the engine running at full throttle. If it's still stumbling occasionally under load, then you still have a fuel flow problem.

You can clean these carburetors a dozen times and still not get them right.
