Farmall 300 water pump packing

Rebuilding the water pump on my Farmall 300. Is just one of these packing rings enough?

Check a parts book. It seems like they take 2 or 3.

Parts catalog is on-line, doesn't say "how many used", apparently at one time they came cartons of 12. (I ASSUME we are talking about Key #12?)

The M takes 3 & that pump looks similar.

You want to have some adjustment so put one in, bottom the nut then put in another & see where you are.
