Trying to figure out problem with hard to get tractor in gear(grinding). Clutch does not slip but does let out at the top of petal travel and T/A shifts and works fine. The only way it will go into gear is I
have to adjust the T/A to where it rides against the T/A clutch fingers. Does this sound like a main clutch or T/A clutch problem ?

I would guess a main clutch issue. If you throttle tractor way down and see if that will allow you to shift it into gear.

Main clutch. If there is little free play, and it grinds, either the main clutch disk is warped, or pilot bearing, or the disk is getting stuck on the clutch shaft splines. Jim

Let me put it to you like this , First off there is NO clutch brake to slow/ stop the clutch from turning when you stomp down on it and the gears will turn for some time . Now like Jim said you may have a pilot bearing problem , you may have a flywheel problem where the face of the flywheel is not flat and the disc is lightly dragging , your transmission is not synchronized so there are no blocking rings o act like a small brake to allow no grind . You should have between 7/8 to 1 inch of main clutch free travel . Now to to extensive field testing of said tractor i ma sure you have lots of ware at all points in the linkage and you have to deal with it and learn to adjust around
