1206 stops moving.

Guy I know has a 1206. Low side of ta has been out for years. Hardly uses the tractor. Can hear a noise sounds like from the mcv valve. Kinda winding sound. Changes noise when turning the steering wheel. The tractor drives and steers fine at lower rpms. When you get half throttle or more it will stop moving. Dumped in an extra 5 gallons of hyd oil to rule out bad oring in the split section. Didnt help. Hoping it's just a blown gasket in mcv valve or bad pump. Do they act this way when the hi side is going out? Probably end up putting a ta in it anyways but want to figure out the problem first.

Not driving at all at higher engine speeds may indicate a plugged filter, or (with the noise) a failing splined drive shaft/clutch plate that drives pumps and PTO. It is located at the master clutch and can be seen through the inspection plate it is a split to fix. Jim

I haven't really checked it out yet. But the hitch pump seems to be working normal and the pto works good. So I dont think it's the drive or filter but I'm gonna check them out.

With the TA sprag clutch out, the TA multi plate (front) direst clutch must be operating to move the tractor. If the tractor stops moving, that clutch must be failing, or hemorrhaging in the hydraulics supplying it. This assumes the master clutch is OK. Jim
