I bought a 340 Farmall RC. In order to change the hyd, Tran, rear end, pto fluid, etc, how many drain plugs are there and where are they? I got an I&T book and operator's manual and neither have satisfactory answers for that. thanks in advance, gm

The service directions and locations of the drain and fill plugs are shown in IH publication titled "Preventive Maintenance Manual McCormick Farmall and International 340 series Tractors" No. 1 014 243 R5 dated 11-23-62. This publication also includes other smaller IHC tractors of the era as well and can probably be obtained from this site, Binder Books as well on-line through eBay. I am not familiar with the 340 model tractors and the photos in the book don't give enough detail as to properly describe the exact locations noted you are requesting but would be easy to see standing next to your tractor. In the section for the 340 Farmall and International models additional information is given on how to purge the pump and hydraulic tubes of fluid during a total service. There are also directions on how to service any hydraulic cylinders which may be installed on the tractor for various attachments, Hal.
