Not too much of a job, been years since I done on on a super.

Why? They are something unusual that you don't see every day.'Factory correct/perfect' gets pretty boring. much more interesting to see something different. The 'show crowd' thinks so too. Pretty handy too. Down side is they wont hold a 'souped' up SuperM on the wt transfer pulling sled. In the field, never slipped a bit.To remove, you will need a complete left side brake assembly, and a pinion shaft. Don't remember if anything else will be needed. You will also need to slide the left wheel all the way out,and remove the drawbar axle clamp on that side to allow clearance.Really not too hard.

Yes, A&W and M&W both made them for the H & SH, they were listed in the Central Tractor Parts Co. 1963 catalog.

Back in the day, before I had a LPTO tractor,My superM was my main haying tractor.I got an M/W lpto hand clutch. Best thing since sliced bread!!No longer did I have to clutch it,throw into neutral to run a slug through, then wait for the transmission gears to stop spinning before I could put it in gear.I thought I was in heaven with the lpto hand clutch on my SuperM.Still have the tractor, the clutch is still on and used from time to time. The 'super' still does some ground work. the hand clutch holds just fine under normal operations.I say leave it on!

I understand the advantages of the hand clutch which is great but the main thing i was going to do with this was to pull it on the transfer sled and after finding out from you guys on a early post that it might slip and then i wondered how hard it was to take off by the way this tractor was for sale.

THANKS for the response

I think some of you guys are thinking of the M&W add on, which provided for independent PTO, but there was also a hand clutch option available from the factory which replaced the foot pedal operated clutch. I've never seen one, but it is listed in the parts catalog.

Not hard, you can do it all from the left side. Will need the regular SM bull pinion shaft and bearing, bull pinion bearing retainer, brake actuating assembly, drum, Brake discs, brake adjustment bolt and piece it goes to on left end of clutch and brake pedal shaft. Probably a new seal and maybe a o ring. Bull pinion and differential carrier bolts were replaced with different ones when the hand clutch was installed. May need the regular 7/16 diameter bolts. You remove the other bolts to get the band brake drum and cover backing plate off. Put bolts back in after plate is removed. Need the disc brake drum mounting bolts.

This tractor was for sale and i was looking to buy it and it was a m/w hand clutch and i should have been more clear about my post and it was froze up handle would not move so i don't know if it was any good or not.

Thanks for the help
