o Jim and others in the know RE DISTRIBUTER

Dear Jim and others
??Question?? was just looking into the difficulty with the IHC distributer on my BN. Replaced the "condenser" , due to not starting now starting. DISCOVERED that the shaft had more slop than I think appropriate. Do you happen to have the inner and outer dimensions of the bushings that the shaft runs in? I don't want to take the distributer apart until I have new bushings on hand, even if I need to take over the counter bushings and modify them to the appropriate sizes.

Thank you for your assistance.

Wm.

THIS very site sells the bushings.

For OEM ditributor... https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/IHS3166_Distributor-Shaft-Bushing-and-Shim-Kit_27837.htm

For Delco conversion distributor... https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/ABC3007_Distributor-Shaft-Bushing-and-Shim-Kit_27831.htm

Bob is on target as usual. I recommend looking at the shaft and replacing it if worn enough to feel with a fingernail. Putting the bushing in a little to far, or short some can gain by running on new shaft. (this idea is limited by space when assembled) Jim

Excuse me for jumping into this but just wondering how hard it is to rebuild a distributor. Would I need a press. I ve put aftermarket on one of my tractors and it came with hole for the grease fitting which is metric and NOBODY can find one that fits . I know I could revtspvit but was just curious about difficulty to rebuild one as I have never tried it.

Thank you for your replies. Will look into the parts. This situation may have been the cause of hard restarting when it stalled and difficulty of restarting when hot. / earlier post.

Thank you again.

Wm.
