Super A Engine Number

Could someone please show me a photo the engine number on a Super A so I know I am not barking up the wrong tree?

This all started with me getting the wrong fan belt and the wrong generator belt. Who would have guessed that one model could have different belt sizes?

Thanks in advance for any help

Mark, According to my parts book, there were 4 different fan belts, a regular and a heavy duty for the 113 ci engine and same for the 123 ci engine and the easy way to tell the difference is the 123 ci engine has a water pump, the 113 does not.

The IH numbers are: 113 regular duty - 46869D, heavy duty - 368083R1 for the 123 reg - 60712D, heavy duty - 368084R1.

If needed I can get you a pic tomorrow, let me know. Adrian

My uncle bought a H new in 1952, that had a real narrow fan belt on it also, my cousin still has it, not sure why it's got that weird belt and pulley on it !

Here s s photo of the block serial. This is from a super A as well

The Engine Serial Number is stamped on a flat machined surface, above the where the coil would mount, in front of the distributor (or in front of the mag, if so equipped), just below the cylinder head at the front of the block. I have two of these tractors in the garage and they are 9 years apart in age and both have the engine serial number here.

The only Super A that could have came with a water pump would have been the very last year of Super A, or Super A-1. My 1953 Super A is all original with the 123 and does not have a water pump.
You can add a water pump to any of them, but there is really no need for it unless you are overworking the little tractors, all day in some serious heat. The thermosiphon system works perfectly fine when everything is clean (and when the correct head gasket is used).

This is not the block serial number, it is the part number for the block.

GOOD MORNING AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP

I removed the oil filter, scraped away grease, oil and paint only to find the engine block heavily pitted, may have left the factory that way. Bottom line is that I will never know the engine number, it is long gone and
illegible.

Thanks again for all the help.

Mark

Disregard then

Crap. Well then I still need a photo so's to know where to look!

It's exactly where I told you to look in my post earlier.
Here is a picture of a super A engine that someone posted on here. The white spot at the front of the engine is where the serial number is stamped.

Serial# does tell where the engine was used whether tractor, combine, baler or just a power unit and different front pulleys were used therefore the difference in length of fan and generator belts. You can tell by the prefix # on the engine serial#
