Help with data plates and decals on a 1948 F CUB

My tractor data plate says international Harvester F CUB. It's serial number places it in the 1948 age group. It has no decals on it.

I would like to understand all of the different names associated with this tractor. I See and hear Farmall Cub, IH Cub, McCormic Deering Cub, and others. What is the rhyme behind all of the different nomenclature? If my tractor's data plate says International Harvester F Cub shouldn't the proper decals say the same thing?

I want to do the restoration correctly but can't find answers to the simple things. I found a picture of an identical data plate but no photos of the decals associated with it. Can someone help me understand and possibly point me to a source for the company logic on this

Your tractor is a "McCormick Deering Farmall Cub" manufactured by the International Harvester Company.

Obviously that is a mouthful and a half, so most simply call it a Farmall Cub. Others not familiar will use other names interchangeably, but not "correctly."

My research shows that the Deering name was dropped in 1949, so your Cub should have the "McCormick-Deering" decals to be "correct." If correctness is your concern, it should NOT have the "circle Cub" logo, as that was only placed on the first several hundred 1947's, before someone probably realized it was redundant.

IH sold tractors under some different names and the styling was a bit different between the. The name McCormick Deering or McCormick was used for a long time on most models but in the 50's and 60's they seemed
to go more with either Farmall or International. There were low boy cubs which I think were all labeled International and were closer to their lawn and garden tractor business. There are other people than
explain the changes better than me.
