On the steering, if the stop's didn't stop it, what would, I think mine was put together wrong all these years! I put in a new seal yesterday, i could see it was apart before ! I have owned it about 35 years !

How could you put it together wrong. Do you still have play that's not in the U-joint that would be the bearing on the end of the shaft

Well that plate with the seal in it was 90 degrees off,therefore the stops wouldn't or couldn't touch the moveable stops. I never had it apart before, and never had a problem with it turning to sharp with it, all 3 of my kids cut grass with it when they were growing up,etc, i am amazed that it didn't get crossways and break off the front end off, all these years. Yea i got some play in it, but the seal was shot,letting the grease leak out, is why i took it apart !

I bought one they didn't even put that plate on and now you can turn the front around and around so I will need to put one on. Never know just what you can find in a used tractor.
