IH 574 Gas - Score on cylinder wall, any idea if its fixable

mvphoto35715.jpg

Thought it was a blown head gasket, coolant got into the oil. There's this notch/score on one of the cylinder walls. Anyone have any advice?

Parent bore block on that one, no sleeves
on the C200. They're a good tractor. If
you really need to save money, you could
have a machine shop do just that one
hole, and with a new piston. Last I had
done, about $125 per cylinder to bore,
sleeve, final bore, and finish hone to
match the new pistons. I think the
pistons were about $85 each for my 674.
Strip her down and at least fix that one
hole.

No expert, trying to learn.
Is this caused by a dislocated piston pin?

I feel your pain, especially it being a non sleeve engine :-(

Hendrik, it would appear to be so. The arrow on the piston pointing towards the front makes it look like the mark on the cylinder wall is directly in line with the crankshaft center line, along with the wrist pins. The size of the damaged area would also correlate to the approximate size of the wrist pin.
