Farmall A Sleeve O Rings ?

Hello,
1940 Farmall A----I have antifreeze in my oil. I tried using the tablets in the radiator and it didn't improve. I dropped the pan and didn't see any antifreeze on the cam shaft nor do I have a loss of power or bubbles in the radiator. I am guessing it is from an O ring seal around one of the sleeves. My next action will be to drop the pan again and pressurize the radiator to see where it is leaking from. If it is a sleeve, is there an easier way to change it or do I have to pull the piston and then the sleeve?

No easy way. the head comes off, the rod is disconnecred from the crank, the sleeve and piston can be pushed up and out. Jim

Only way to fix a sleeve seal is to pull that sleeve and piston and replace the o-ring

If you are going to use pressure block off the radiator as it is old and never was made for pressure. How much oil are you finding. I will drop pan and lt it set a couple days and if no coolant is seen at the bottom of the sleeve then remove the head looking where the leak is coming from.

It seems to be about an ounce every couple of weeks. Would it be ok to just change the oil every 30 days and maintain the coolant until I have time to do anything further? I am planning on a few parades lasting to October.

My uneducated guess would be that you could probably just crack the oil plug to drain the coolant before each use and get by for the few times you are going to run it.

That has been my "uneducated" procedure thus far. LOL
The oil comes out of the level petcocks perfectly good. The antifreeze doesn't get picked up by the oil pick up because it settles to the bottom of the pan.

"pushed out"
I saw videos where they were pulled from the top. How would you push them (sleeves)?

A 1-1/2" X 1-1/2" X 12" hard wood block pushing up on the lip of the sleeve. (Oh yeah a 2 pound hammer) Jim
