Hello all! Well, today the H took her final drive into the shop prior to teardown. The memorial/metnal health awareness project is well underway. I got to the point today where I am ready to split the tractor and pull the motor. After close inspection, I think the governor will need some attention, the head gasket I know leaks externally, clutch is a little grabby upon releasing, and the front and rear rims will need to be replaced. The fuel tank also has a large goober-solder job on top where it meets the hood, so this will need to be replaced.
The tractor ran pretty well, and I had already installed a new manifold, alternator and new wiring harness, rebuilt magneto, rebuilt starter, and a few other odds and ends. I plan on going through the motor (hoping it doesn't need too much with respect to machine work).
The project has a GoFundMe set up, and has already received about $1500 worth of donations. Titan Tire has stepped up to provide tires for the project, a couple private donors have committed some parts for it (valve train kit), so I am very thankful for that! All proceeds from donations will go towards the project and any extra will be donated to an organization called SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education). I am also chronicling the entire process on my YouTube channel which some of you already are aware of!
I hope you guys enjoy this first update (of many). Stage one will be motor work, stage two will be transmission and rear end. Stage three I think I will tackle steering and front bolster issues (has the horrible death wobble and I know the worm/sector gears as well as the u-joint are severely worn)... I have included a link to my video introducing the project, and there you can also find a link to the GoFundMe (if you are interested in becoming a part of the project)!
Hope to have the motor out tomorrow and on the stand!
