Two out two to go, Trying to put on a new battery box, on the 450, but the back two bolts are a no go,it been full of dirt, etc, for so long, if i take two 5/8 nut's bore them out some, and weld them over what i got left,is that welding going to hold ?? What would you try ?

I've welded a thick flat washer on first, & then
weld a nut onto the washer.
Give the heat a minute to soak down the threads.
Penetrating oil.

I replaced the battery boxes on a Stage 2 Super H and Stage 2 Super M. Same deal as your 450.

Didn't even waste my time trying to get them out. Went and got 3/4" nuts which fit over the corroded bolt heads, stick welder and a 6011 rod. Filled the nut with weld, let it cool, and turned the bolts right out easy peasy.

Welding a washer on is only if the broken-off stud is at or below the surface of the casting it's stuck in. Otherwise the washer is redundant, even counterproductive. A nut lets you build up a lot more weld quickly and dump a lot more heat into the bolt.

If there's anything protruding from the surface at all, go straight for the nut.

Usually when i do that,it crystalize's and the just the head comes of, and looking at a differant problem

Sometimes remove those by smacking the heck down on top of the bolt heads with hammer. Not enough to break the casting though. If part of bolt head is left use the hammer to swell what's left. Have some old sockets standard and metric that I drive on the bolt head in size that works. Set air wrench on low and let it hammer. If it moves stop and go the other direction a little. If it wants to quit turning smack the bolt head some more.
