Hey all. My woes continue with the ole girl. After the Bull Pinion Seal replacement, I noticed my left axle had a drip (I replaced both axle seals, due to pulling the axles). I was hoping it might heal itself once it got moving. However, I've only moved it in and out of the shop a few times, and used it to unload a mower off a trailer. The leak has gotten significantly worse, to the tune of a 2 ft wide puddle that reaches to the front of the tractor. Any suggestions or magic potions out there to try before I go in and replace the seal again? Is there a better source than another for these seals?

It's likely not the seal that is the problem. It is either the shaft, or the installation method.
When the shaft has a badly worn groove where the seal rides, no seal will hold. When you (unintentionally) wreck the seal during installation, it will leak.
No magic fix. Axle has to come back out and another seal installed.

I don?t know if the seal for this application has a spring in it to help compress the sealing lip. If so it
is possible that the spring was dislodged from its proper location during installation. If this
happens it can be pulled back in place before assembly with a ...Coon puncture wound awl... or in a pinch a
piece of bale wire or 12 or 14 gauge solid copper wire. Bend a 1/8 to 3/16? 90 degree hook on the
end. To prevent this I smear globs of grease about 4 places around the seal to hold the spring in
place while it is driven in its bore.
