1940 Farmhill H

I have two Ford tractors and do not know much about Farmall, but this ad interested me.

"Classic old tractor that runs. Can be restored or leave it as is. New front tire and one new rear tire. New battery and other small items. rare single front tire. You must haul."

Asking $500

What are your thoughts on it?

Is the single wheel really rare and is this type a popular collector s item?

That single front appears to be for the later 350 or maybe even 460 tractor. A single front WAS available for the early H, but it is a bit different. ANY Farmall H that runs and drives is worth $500.

Agree on your rarity comment. Knew a guy that hauled a bunch of old western Masseys back here. Thought he'd make a killn' at his auction. Couldn't hardly get a bid.

why is it not in your yard???The one new tire alone is worth 500. The single front is not "rare" at all. Very popular in furrow irrigated country. There are a lot of singles here(western Colorado)A single will follow a water 'mark'(furrow),whearas a tricycle will just wander. When that tractor as new,a variety of fronts were available, depending on your area and needs.the common tricycle is prevalent in the Midwest corn areas. As was said the front is from a 350/460. Maybe even a cotton picker tractor.any running H,regardless of condition is worth $500.

I bought a 1941 Ford 9N and was just looking through the ads and came across this one. Can t just buy every cool tractor I see haha. How about this Minneapolis Moline tractor, not running and also asking for $500? (I m in CA)

Buy it!
$500.00 for a running tractor in Ca is rare, just give it a thorough going over to make sure it is solid.
My '40 H is one of my favorite tractors, I am in Ca as well, High Desert.

The MM tractor pictured is probably worth the price, but not running and the way the tires look it could turn into a money pit real quick.

Thanks. I guess they are not as specific as the Ford serial number system. I have 1981 Ford 3600 with serial number CX253C and below is the decoded breakdown:
