fiber striker plate on points

// I am a bit perplexed about the following on Farmall BN with 123 engine.
//( Still chassing down a run and stall out won't re start situation I mentioned over a couple of months ago. Had it stall twice during the winter and had to let sit for a couple of hours before it would restart. )
//Went out Monday to move it, wouldn't start. Checked for fuel, ended up looking in tank,!! O' My! Removed tank , cleaned out corrosion flakes and also removed carb, cleaned installed new gasket.
Still no start.
//Checked disputer points 'nearly closed'.
Rest to 20 tho; Instant start. Small amount of point lub on stirker arm.
?????? QUESTION are any of you finding that the fiber striker point is wearing out excessively fast: or may I be doing somthing in correct. (The lob cam is clean and polished.) No slop in the shaft.
///This is the second set of points in just over a year (put the first in in 2017 and only test ran engine while finishing up reassembly that year.
////Ran first part of 2018 then replaced with second set, points since fiber striker had worn out on first set.
!!!! NOT MAKING ANY SENCE TO ME. (Had 4 & 6 cylinder cars that ran longer on points than this is.)
Thank you for any and all information and assistance you offer.
Wm.

My points were wearing out prematurely on my 200. At least 2 sets a year (low operation hours). Then got a set from Napa, and still have them in it well over a year now. Maybe I got lucky!

The run/ stall,not restart problem could most likely be a bad coil.When it stall,imediately feel the coil. If really HOT,it is bad. A good set of points from NAPA should last for years. You have adequet amount of point lube? Is the point cam lobe smooth/polished. If rough/pitted,that would quickly wear points.

Where are you getting the points. I go on tractor rides parades ect. B that mows 3A of lawn hasn't had points in yrs it is a mag but still have lasted for many yrs.

Is it wearing or snapping off? I've had a couple sets of points where the fiber snapped off.

There are no "quality" points anymore. All the points are made on the same assembly line in the same factory in China. The only difference is the package they come in, and the price you pay.
