Engine rebuild kits

when I rebuilt the engine on a super C, that I had aquired I ordered a kit from here on YTs parts dept, it was cheaper than local and the engine shop owner that did the head work was impressed with the quality of the valves and guides I Got.

Why would you get the domed piston kit? If it s for more horse power I don t think your going to gain that much for the extra price .

Yea ya will NOTICE the difference and WHY would you NOT want to improve your tractor . Many years ago i had one farmer insist on keeping his tractor the same as it came from the factory SO i did the rebuild with stock flat head pistons , couple years later he up and buys a second tractor , same tractor but this one had the step heads . He had me go with him to a sale to by a second set of Oliver 4340 three bottom plows that by his insistence i got bought and ended up giving four times the price of THAT plow at that sale then if i had bought oneat the sales i went to , but but it was his money then instead of unloading them at his farm he had me take them to my shop and REBUILD them from the ground up and i had to use all OEM parts ONLY and that added in almost close to a grand so when all said and done he had close to 1850 bucks in a set of three bottom Oliver trailer plows so that his two boys could both plow together as they now had two S/MTA's . That is when he saw first hand that flat head verses step head . Step headed equiped could run thrid up and down the hills and flat head equiped was in the T/A on each little hump and he brings that back to me to TUNE IT UP and test it . Flat head ran around 51 Hp. the step head was running 60 Hp. Step head used less gas , not much per day but less . Yes they still farmed 165 acres of plow ground with two S/Mta's one WD 45 and a late 8 N ford.
