where to put the crank on a Cub

I was wondering where it was intended to store the crank for a 47 Cub. Mine still has a mag and when the battery is low I just crank it to start it. Was it supposed to be held with clips on top of the gear shift cover like an A tractor or stored somewhere else.

Years ago the boss brought his cub in to work, to use for getting cars out during the winter snow. We lost the crank in the snow once so no one knew how to get it started. I took a piece of bailing twine and raped it around the belt pulley on it and gave it a pull. It started right up. Just like pull starting a lawn mower. We started it that way for the rest of the winter. We also found the crank in a snow bank after it melted.
