Getting ready to convert my H to 12 volt. I am looking at using one of those small diameter denso one wire alternators. Has any one tried using these alternators? Any comments pro or con?

I have made brackets for mounting this little Denso alternator on a Farmall H. I have designed my kits to fit nicely under the hood and the alternator uses the original belt. If you are interested let me know. [email protected]

I think that small Denso is the only way to go. A Delco 10si WILL NOT fit under the hood.

I have 3 of them, Fcub, Super A, and a SMTA all work great. The 460U is next, just need more time...

They package nicely and wire easily and do a great job charging the battery. The only question really is how long they will last. I think I'm in going to be in the 4th year on the Super A.

A Delco 10SI will fit under the hood on a Farmall H and the hood will close fine. I know, I have one, installed it myself.

I got an alternator (the label says Delco 10SI, 1 wire hookup, 6 volt, positive ground) for my Super A. Feeling a bit confused as to "EXACTLY" how to hook it up. My previous wiring is a mess. the guy who was working on it before I got it had a lot of wires disconnected. So if anyone can teach me how to wire it, I would appreciate you assuming I am a total novice at wiring...which I basically am.
Thanks.

Best, imo, is to make a wiring diagram and get consultation if needed about the design.

Then, strip every wire off the tractor and replace with a new harness. It solves so many "hardy perennial" problems and the work you put in will last many years.

You should start a new thread with your question, as everyone may not see it here.

You will need to switch your tractor to negative ground to use that alternator. There have been numerous threads on this subject. Do a search and you should be able to find just about everything you need to know. Good luck!
