1066 steering

Neighbor changed the rubber sleeve seal on the hand pump & now when he starts the tractor the steering wheel spins clear to the left.
What do I need to look for to fix it?

If he had just the bottom end apart, that little dowel pin in the plate is in wrong hole. I never had it happen but have heard it does that, although I did put a Char Lynn together wrong once and it would break you arm real if you had it in between the spokes. Much like some John Deere 4 wheel drive tractors that tear your arm up when starting them, and that is not an assembly problem.

Going to have to change the sleeve seal on our 1066.
How much disassembly is required to get the hand pump
out? I'm guessing steering wheel will have to come
off. Probably the Allen head screws also?
Are the hydraulic lines rubber or steel that go to the
unit?
Thanks for any help.
Jim

Yup it is out of time, or the lines are on the wrong place on the hand pump. As for the disassembly. The throttle linkage has a roll pin to come out, the inspection plate off the front /bottom by your knees. Then the lines Then will come apart. The top plate comes off the hand pump then will come out the top if I remember right. Just did our 1466 last year. Keep track of which lines go where on the hand pump. I marked them when I took it apart. Some of them will be a different lengths so that keeps them sorted. On the 1466 there are 2 different bands for the hand pumps.
