another mistake???

I had the radiator re-worked in my Farmall M. I drained the antifreeze into a 5 gal. bucket. After installation of the rebuilt radiator the 5 gal bucket was
too heavy and awkward to lift and pour so I used SWIMBO's iced tea pitcher. I ran it through the dish washer. IS IT SAFE?? Thanks, Ellis

I would wash it by hand with plenty of soap and hot water especially the inside. Rinse really good with hot water. Then run it through dishwasher again. I don't trust dishwashers to really get inside the pitcher.

I hope you didn't wash it with the rest of your dishes. LOL. Antifreeze is kind of oily. If you notice when you get some on your hands, and wash your hands, they still smell like antifreeze. If you wash it good and more than once, you should be ok. I personally wouldn't use anything for antifreeze, that I was intending on using again. And certainly wouldn't wash it with other dishes. Why didn't you use a plastic solo cup, or a used stirafoam cup and throw it away after???

US BOYS USED TO USE MOM'S GOOD FIESTA WARE BOWLS TO HOLD RED BARN PAINT, TOUCHING UP DOORS AND SIDING.

Can't give the science answer, but no way would I want to drink out of something that contained something that could make you go blind in you drank it.

You're confusing methyl alcohol (methanol or wood alcohol) with ethylene glycol. Methyl alcohol leads to blindness through accumulation of formic acid in the old eye balls. Chronic exposure to ethylene glycol (anti freeze) will cause kidney failure.

My advice - wash it well, rinse and repeat and all will be fine.

WHEN I was young Folks told me I would go blind. However it was NOT from drinking any form of
alcohol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have had to wear glassed for some time. LOL

Just clean it up really good and forget about it. If a little anti freeze was going to kill you there would be very few mechanics over 18 years old. I have tasted many oil samples for that sickening sweet taste of anti freeze. It drips in your face, you have your hands in it and wipe your nose and brow. No matter how you wipe it off it stays with your hide until you really wash it off.

I used my glass measuring cup that I brew tea in to milk a cow yesterday. She then kicked me and stomped that right into the ?material? at the bottom of the chute. Oh well. Made tea in it at lunch.

If I see a leak I always taste it to see what it is. I would hate to think of how many times in my life I have dipped the tip of my finger in antifreeze and tasted it. Brake fluid is rather nasty...

Regardless of how much,or if it is environmentally safe; why on God's green earth would you flush that stuff in the ground or in a sanitary collection system? I beg your pardon
, but that was not very XXXXin smart.
