1466 stuck in reverse

Blowing snow, spun out, shifter won't come out of reverse. We pulled it ahead with another tractor while I held in the clutch and I put the speed trans in between two gears. Once ahead I backed up and rocked it a bit but it won't shift out of reverse. Any ideas?

Look at the linkage. Wheh they get worn, the shifter right up on top in the quadrant will jump between 'forks'that can usually be remedied with a large screwdriver/prybar in the right place..If that looks good, trace the linkages from the top down. possibly a pin is sheared,or a cotter came out. You may need to pull the floorboard and the cowling to see.there are several bell cranks, pins, tierods?.in there. any of which could have 'failed'.If all that looks good, your next step is to remove the top range cover.

My kid got it "finessed" out of reverse, things seem to be working ok. We have been doing a lot of shifting and clutching, so maybe things just need adjusting. Thanks for the information.

There is no real adjustment , what is needed here is rebuilding the shifter and removing the slop from the shifter on down . Your tractor is suffering from way tomuch field testing . Lack of proper clutch linkage adjustment a day or two in the shop a few bucks and it can be made to shift like new.
