farmall 300 hydraulic

I am putting a hydraulic system back together on a Farmall 300 and was wondering if there is a way to prime the pump as the lines are well above the fill plug on the reservoir tank

Where is your tank located, if it's a factory tank,i think it will pick up on it's own, if the tank has been relocated you can try a rag and a blow gun in the filler hole, but you might need some one there to help you, while you start the engine.

On my 400, there is a plug at about 10 o'clock on the housing that can be removed and you can add oil in the hole to prime the pump. It is the pressure relief valve and if you remove the spring and the ball, it will take oil. The plug is threaded in to a curved section of the housing, and getting the plug started straight is critical.

When I split mine for a clutch I undid the block on the bottom of the pump from the pump itself. It pumped fine without priming when I put it back together.
