Farmall H engine could you clarify this one for me

I am not a regular on this forum and not a farmall expert, So forgive me for those issues. But here goes, years ago a good mechanic fixed a farmall H and it had tremendous power. I was not there but supposedly he pulled the dry sleeves and put pistons in the block and greatly increased the bore (not sure of stroke) Wondering if it could have been something else he did. I was around him on 2-3 other projects that amazed most people, so guess its not imposible. Thanks farmall people.

Changing the stroke is a major under taking, so you'r added power cam from increased bore, and compression ratio !! I am curious was it dynoed ???

Are you sure he didn't install thinner sleeves? Or do you think he really eliminated the sleeve altogether?

I would assume the slightly larger pistons with a much higher compression ratio due to domed pistons.

Always said pulled the sleeves used the block. Where he go the pistons was beyond me. But he was talented enough to do so.

There is an old saying: "There is no replacement for displacement". Folks have been hopping engines up since there have been engines. My first guess would be he pulled the shelves and used high compression pistons. Makes a ton of difference. He could have stroked the crankshaft. You can stroke an H motor 1/2" pretty easily. My pulling tractor is a Farmall H with a 1/2" stroke, parent bore and 11.5:1 pistons makes 95hp on the dyno. Just adding the high altitude fire crater pistons with the oversized sleeves makes a huge difference. My son has a stock H that he pulls with. It has a gas head with the oversized sleeves and the fire crater pistons. That one makes like 46 hp on the dyno.
