That is the hard part. The tires go on and off fairly easy, on that size. Big enough to pry over well, and small enough they are not to heavy to work with.

One may not want to do too much demonstration cleaning. They may just tell you now with all that experience you can do it faster, easier, better, etc. than we
do. They want the pay check at the end of the week but not necessarily the work that goes into earning it.

The labor for mounting the new tires was included in the price of the tires. Any other work THEY did would need to be billed separately at approximately $80 to $100 per hour. You got off pretty easy by charging THEM $20.

It is not that they didn't know how, just that they knew you didn't want to pay them $100.

the labor bill was $29.95 for mounting 2 new front tires. if I have an issue with a back tire there is another shop in town that will fix it for $65,

on the other hand, there's are a couple of shops in town that wont even look at a tractor tire but will gladly sell you $2000 set of rims for your $200 pile of junk

The last time I took some rims and tires to be mounted the tire monkeys pretty well trashed my rims. I have bought a few tools and have developed my own technique to dismount and mount tractor tires with any damage to a freshly painted rim. I will not take my tractor tires anywhere anymore.

I guess I'm sort of spoiled here in Missouri as the tire shop I use always cleans up the rusty rim during a tire replacement or repair
without any additional charge. They really cater to the ag guys as they know they are dead in the field until they get back home with the
repair or replacement. A Cadillac can be in the shop for new tires and if an ag tire comes in they stop what they were working on and take
care of the farmer's tire. I've appreciated their service so much I buy all my tires from them now. Their motto on the front of the
building is "If it's rubber, black and round we can handle it", Hal.

At tire shops around here if you want your rims cleaned and/or painted, they'll take the tires off, then you take the rims home and do what you feel is necessary. Once you're ready, you bring your rims back for them to put the new tires on, no extra charge. Otherwise they're going to do what they're being paid to do, which is dismount old tires and mount new tires.

They won't put a new tire on a rusty rim, but fixing that is your problem.

Frankly I'm surprised they didn't charge you extra for making them wait while you wire wheeled off your rims, used their electricity, and filled their shop with clouds of rusty dust.

2X on that. Tire stores sell and mount tires, they might even sell new rims, but they won't fix rims anymore.

Our Father age 90......dropped his Pontiac Vibe at the local big chain Tire shop:

I happened to notice Father in the Shop...I stopped to BS...

As I was viewing his vehicle, I noticed a "fellow" with an IMPACT AIR GUN successfully twist off a rear wheel stud!!!!!!

As there was no apparent supervisor on hand,I stepped into the shop...disconnected the air supply...

The individual with the Air Gun was only approximately 6'5....

As his on site education continued he admitted he was not aware that he MUST change direction of the GUN....."F" "R".

He was ORDERED NOT TO TOUCH the vehicle.....I returned with a NEW WHEEL STUD.

The STORE SUPERVISOR was now on site.......he worked with Tire Technician to install the NEW Wheel Stud....change Tire and balance said tire.

Not a word was uttered until I asked if the STUDS had been Torqued to specifications?

The Supervisor asked if I could please accompany him to his office?

I was asked "WHAT EXACTLY back ground do you have that makes you an EXPERT" !!!!!

I explained that I'm not an expert, I just happen to have read in the Pontiac VIBE OPERATOR MANUAL the section on "WHEEL / TIRE/TORQUE"

I asked my Father to take his vehicle and leave,so as I could deal with this Neanderthal!

When I traced my steps back to the Supervisors office....he was not there.....Secretary shared with me he decided to go home as he was not feeling well!
