Farmall F12 Temperature Gauge 37071 D

I found a a shop to repair the temperature gauge for my 1937 F12. Sent it off on Monday and it came back today (Friday). They replaced the capillary tube and bulb and repaired the seized mechanism. As the F12 temperature gauge operates from the bottom of the radiator, it reaches full scale deflection well before water boiling point. Ignoring the parallax error, accounted for by its location on the tractor, it reads as follows:

The temperatures are adjusted to the nearest 5 as the measurements were taken in degrees Celsius.

70F needle just to left of O on COLD
80F needle just inside left of O on COLD
85F needle a little further inside O on COLD
95F needle at centre of O on COLD
105F needle just inside right of O on COLD
115F needle just to right of O on COLD
120F needle just to left of D on COLD
130F needle between D on COLD and R on RUN
140 F needle on right side of R on RUN
150F needle on left side of N on RUN
155F needle on right side of N on RUN
160F needle at end of green section
165F needle on right side of H on HOT
170F needle on left of O on HOT
175F needle on right of O on HOT
185F needle on stem of T on HOT

If anyone has a temperature gauge for sale, working or not, I would be happy to purchase one for the second F12, which will be worked on over the course of this year.

The Company is called Humphrey Instruments. The only problem you would have is cost of postage, as they are in New South Wales, Australia. They ask that instruments be packed well and securely; they send them back in the same container as received. I used a 4" diameter tube and packed the entire gauge a capillary tube in bubble wrap

those numbers seem about right for the bottom of the radiator. Kerosene tractors were designed to run hot. These old motors were built loose to run hot so they could vaporize heavy kerosene operating temp was right at boiling point. A little bit of steam from the cap was normal operating temp.

In Australia, nearly every Farmall F12, F20, F30, A, H and M was set up to run on kerosene. The temperature gauge on our Farmall M has an arrow on the right hand side of run, which is where the needle sits when it operates on kerosene. We usually run it on petrol / gasoline now, but sometimes run kerosene for ploughing.
