3 point drops on my 806

This winter I am using my 1966 model 806 as a choring tractor to feed my cows. Lately the 3 point drops a little then jerks back up about every 2 to 3 seconds. It is much more noticeable with a roll of hay on it. I tried the cure of some things I read about on here and overfilled it 5 gallons . It didn't help. What would be the cause and cure for this ? I really like this old tractor and am amazed how nimble and handy it is for its size. As far as I am concerned the guys at IH hit a homerun when they designed them. Thanks for any help . Lee

The lift piston needs to be rebuilt. You have to remove the rockshaft cover to do it. What its doing is leaking by and correcting itself which is the jerking you are feeling.

Wear in the lift cylinder. a bit of oil escapes and the hitch settles. then the load sencing 'catches' it and lifts it back up.Not a big deal. My 1256 with 20,000 hrs does that with a heavy load(4 bottom rollover plow).

You might be really lucky and by raising and lowering hitch rapidly several times, you might dislodge a piece of crap under check valve. Question, does hitch settle to ground when engine is shut down. A sticky check valve will cause hiccoughing but the hitch will only settle until valve seats so it won't settle when shut off. Leaking cylinder will do both, settle all the way and hiccough .

We went through a whole lot of trouble when IH changed the HY tran formula and it caused swelling of some previous O-rings. New tractors were hiccoughing all over the place and repaired ones with old o rings doing the same. They went to what they called S treated o rings and put the part number right on the o rings to cure the problem. Lot of work for one little o ring on a new tractor with a cab on it.

If you have the draft lever in the light position with the bale on may cause this condition. Our 574 will do that if lifting close to limit weight on it. With the lever in the light position.
