Different heads

What's the difference between a head for kerosene, high altitude head, LP head, etc on the old Farmall's. I'm assuming its compression but how do they make the change on the different heads?

As Dieseltech indicates. The high altitude tractors had normal gasoline heads with domed pistons of various heights to increase compression. later propane fueled tractors had smaller combustion chambers than the gas heads, but were not used for high altitude compensation with gasoline. Jim
