International 250A FEL help

Terratrac57

Hello all...I am looking a purchasing a international 250A tractor with a front end loader...the seller claims it has a 5000 lb lift capacity but I can find no literature to support this...does anyone have any literature or specs supporting his claim? Thanks in advance.

5000lbs is totally unrealistic. The tractor itself barely weighs 5000lbs without the loader. It's a tractor, not an ant.

On a tractor that size a 2000lb maximum lift capacity is more typical, and even that would require a hefty counterweight to keep the rear wheels on the ground.

Are you really planning to lift 5000lbs?

Thanks for your help...I am looking to find
an industrial loader with around a 5000lb
loader capacity as I have one piece of
machinery that I would like to be able to
move with the loader that is around 5000
lbs.

I found a construction equipment specification website that I would have joined to get an answer to your
question. I was not going to do that.
Found another site that said the gross weight of tractor and loader was just over 11,000#. Tractor
itself is just over 5000. It's a very heavily built 574. D-239 Nuess diesel, and either hydrostatic drive
or shuttle shift. The gross rated capacity for the tractor, loader, and backhoe if so equipped is
24,000#.
I would not be surprised if it would lift 5000#. How easily it would move it depends on how much rear
weight you add.
The IH 250A appears to compete with the Case 580 Construction King rob. It's built WAY heavier than
the IH 574 and typical farm loader.

Your best bet is to find a used forklift. Either a cushion tire (solid tire) for pavement only or a semi pneumatic tire for gravel and rough but solid terrain.

5000# is the basic "midsize" forklift that almost every manufacturer makes as their best selling model so there should be many choices. So far I've had good luck with Hyster and Clark.

Maybe with a backhoe the loader is a heavier model, but the pictures of the 250A loader-only that I've seen, it doesn't look any sturdier than a 2000/3000 loader, which has a maximum lift capacity of 2000lbs IIRC.

The backhoe will counterbalance a lot of weight.

Thanks for the help everyone it sounds like it is not going to be big enough for what I'm looking to do with it.
