Farmall H brakes

By far the easiest would be a split to put a rear 1/2 of a H on your SH. The shaft seals system is way different, the pedal actuating mechanism is way different, and the anchor points inside the H tin housing do not exist.
The disk brakes are not impossible to fix. The housings must be machined to provide a small ,o35" stack height of the parts so the linkage works. the balls in the expanders must be round and in smooth ramps. the disks must be free on the splines. then they will work. (I do agree that the drum brakes are better, but have no servo action in reverse.) Jim

The Hs that were converted to the Ausco-Lambert disc brakes can be changed back to band brakes fairly easily, but a Super H is a different animal. Probably could be done, but not easily. I think you would need to get into the transmission and change out the bull gear idlers.

No, even if you happened to have a SH transmission housing with mounting holes (only noticed a couple of ones with replacement housings like that) for the band brakes you would still need to go inside rear end to change some parts. Some work but the simplest would probably be to get a H rear end with good differential and bull gears and install the SH transmission gears in it if those gear speeds was wanted.

You'd need the bull pinions and bull pinion carriers from an H, and if you're putting in the bull pinions from another tractor you best bring along the bull gears as well because otherwise they won't match wear patterns and you'll get some pretty annoying whine from the rear end.

It's pretty major surgery. What is the problem with the disc brakes that you feel the need to take on this project?
