Hydraulic question

Having some hydraulic issues on the brake and steering side of my 886. I usually keep it five gallons
over full. The brakes have always had a little delay and the steering will get pretty growly when haying in
real hot weather. This winter the brake delay has gotten pretty bad during chores. I used the FWA tractor
for several weeks so it sat and when I started using it daily again I noticed this was all worse than usual.
The brake pedals will go almost to the floor with no brake and then quickly push back and brake strong.
Steering feels a little ?gritty? during that time but doesn?t go away. It never has lost prime and the clutch
and TA function as they should.

It has 3700 original hours. Good fluid and filter changed with every engine oil change. I?m thinking I need
to take off the MCV cover and go through the usuals on it. Should I just order a pump and put it in at the
same time or does it sound like it just needs the MCV done?

We have an 856 that the brakes act the same way. Steering works fine on. I think we have an auto adjust problem in the brake hosing. I just have not taken time to look into it on our 856 yet. It is on the list to do when we get it in. I am guessing the adjusters are either rusted up, or maybe the disc's are worn out, or the cast housing is worn to the maximum limit and needs replaced. It could also be the adjustment on the rod at the pedal or worn sloppy. Ours are worn quite a bit in the pin holes so the pedal travels a good bit before moving the cylinder rod.

some times ya need to change the Hyd. filter sooner then normal due to condensation build up as the filter is tryen to trap the ice cristels that are suspended in the oil. Also this will even cause the screen and bypass to start to plug restricting suction flow . Now aas to your steering and braking issues on this one one i can not say dead sure just go here and do this and all will be well in WHOWVILLE . The priority valve maybe sticking in the MCV due to a burr might be a weak spring , might be a check valve problem . Myself i do a lot of testing before i start throwing money at a problem . And running out and buying a MCV spring kit is not a PLUG AND PLAY as when done you then have to set pressure as you will normally be way high on pressure and have to adjust spring length . And here i will run the pressure no more then say 30 psi higher then what the book calls for . For doing a test on the MCV ya need a flow rater and the test spool and two gauges. And a good working knowledge of the system. and a BOOK .

Whining is a sign of cavitation, so I agree with others, check filters, screens and fiuids.

Might also have an air leak in the suction.
