ammeter needle does not move. even when i pull the switch button,.
6 volt with generator.
googled a bit.
ahem, if i remove the battery wire from the regulator and place a light between it and ground, ammeter needle should move. (otherwise i will have to remove the battery, to check it out).

if the needle does not move, then ammeter is not working or wired wrong.

"if the needle does not move, then ammeter is not working or wired wrong."

I'm not sure what your question is, but it sounds to me like your last sentence pretty much sums up the situation.

had tractor about 6 months. it was not running , so i do not know about ammeter. needle will not swing when i pull switch on. nor will it swing when running.

If it has lights try them if it moves some then it is working. The ignition switch may not make it move much. Maybe about the width of the needle. Lights should make it move about 5-10 amps or so.

There is not a lot of draw from the ignition as I have found. The ammeter on my SA (12v converted, alternator) shows the most action/most displacement right after I start it and the alt starts recharging the battery. I don't have any working lights (cut grass during the day) so I can't comment on that.
