There's lots of ways to do that, first, we need to figure out exactly what alternator you have. Got some numbers and a name, or a photo?

Is it a full-size alternator from a US car or a mini alternator from Japan, etc.?

The link below is to a universal regulator that will work with most common alternators, but, unfortunately, for the price, you could simply get an internally-regulated alternator, and have a much simpler wiring job.

Some externally-regulated alternators can bebmade to work with an older style Mopar regulator, which can be had for $10 to $20.

A picture is really needed (or ask the guys at the store where it was tested!) Without certainty, we will probably let the smoke out. Jim

As Jim says, post a photo of the backside of your alternator and we'll figure it out from there!

If it were mine I would seriously consider replacing with a mini alternator with built in regulator. I put one from a late 70's early 80's Nissan/Datsun on an H and it worked great. Internal regulated alternator would be simpler to connect and/or troubleshoot.

I went with a single pin compact unit for $41 delivered on my M. Used the same one on an F-20when we installed a starter on it.

thanks for all the comments... I just re wired the old gal and took the good alt of the M that I blocked up to do a motor change along with the carb and starter. the M I'm stripping parts off has a bad motor so all the elec. parts are less that 2 years old...taking 2 to make 1

after all the tlc Maggie can take, I'm gonna hang a set of 461 4row front mount cultivator on her.

again thanks again.
