Super C carb

The SC carter carbarator seems to flood easily on cold start ups on a 6 volt system. I changed the carb with a zenith off a B. So far the SC starts much better. I had the carter carb cleaned by a very good carb guy who has done carb work for years but it still flooded easily. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before with a carter carb? Think I'll leave the zenith carb on the SC and the carter on the B which has a 12 volt battery

You did the right thing, Carter carbs are junk. A new Zenith on my Super C made it into a different tractor, no drips, no smoke and no fouled plugs.

The only reason that Carter is on there is because Zenith and Marvel-Schebler couldn't supply enough to meet the demand, so IH turned to Carter.

According to this site in the parts section..there are two different Zenith Carbs for the Super C,,,What's the difference?

I'd get you the part number off the box my Zenith came in but it might be awhile, my shop door bottoms are froze in the ice from a few days ago. Hope it don't snow, tractor and plow is behind those doors too.

I replaced a Carter carburetor with a Zenith 14007 carburetor, from McDonald Carburetor. That made a huge improvement - and no more leaking. I've heard a lot of people complain about the Carter carburetors leaking, they seem to be prone to doing that.

My SC smokes and one cylinder gunks up, otherwise it runs great....you think a carb change from the Carter to a Zenith will help both?

If it is just one cylinder, then you have an oil consumption problem. A carburetor will not fix that.
