will the front bolster from a 400/450 bolt up to a M

Yes. but you will need to use the M radiator. 400 rad is taller.

Yes but it will place the radiator about a inch and a half more away from the engine unless it's a MD. M worm shaft, hood, coolant hose, lower coolant pipe,
fan cover housing and radiator top brace will end up to short. IH put the bolster on a M type tractor called a SMTA, that's why the stuff above is longer on non diesel models. Have saw a couple with the frame rails made shorter to install the SMTA to 400 type bolsters on a tractor to work. If wanting the hand crank to work some M or SM hand crank parts would need to be put in the 400 bolster. Even though MD and SMD bolsters don't have the corner holes in the bolsters like the SMTA-450 they are the same size otherwise.

The LOWER bolster will be a direct interchange I think.
