706 hydraulic problem

Hi there, looking for a hand diagnosing a hydraulic problem on my old Farmall 706. I've lost power in my remotes and I have tried replacing the pressure relief valve but no change. The pump supplies the remotes and the 3 point hitch and the hitch seems to work fine. Possibly an internal problem I guess, anyone else been down this road? Any info would be great, thanks.

If I understand you problem you have lift on the 3 pt and no pressure on the remote valves. When was the filter last changed? Is the oil level full or 5 gallon over. If these have been done recently then check if the 3 pt will lift a load if not then check for PTO,brakes, steering. If they work then it is probably the relief valve or a blown o-ring inside the valves. or your linkage has come apart in the front on the levers under the seat. 4 bolts will remove the cover to see that right down by the platform. That tin one with the slope on it.
If you have no steering or PTO remove the cover under the clutch DO NOT stick your hand in there, and with tractor running look up in there to see if you can see the shaft in the back of the clutch turning if not that is your problem the spline is gone. That will be split time. And now you will need to find your piggy bank.
Now when you tried the remotes for pressure with a gage you did move the lever to acquire the pressure if you didn't then you need to.

The 5 extra gallons of hytran is the first step. It covers a source of air getting into the system, and is cheap. Jim

Hi again, thanks for the replies. Oil level is right on, everything else working fine, 3 point hitch will lift a fertilizer spreader full, probably 400-450lbs. I was running a small log loader half way through unloading a load when it lost power. I don't have a testing gauge, I was hoping it may be something obvious to somebody with more experience than myself. You mentioned an o-ring?
