Air cleaner

My Dad told me to put a little water in the jar on the air cleaner to give it more power, I did it a few times and really could tell no difference. Have any of you ever heard of this? Maybe Dad was just messing with me.

Excet for freezing, it might cause some dust to stick in the jar, thin oil would also work, but neither is needed. Jim

Little late on a reply here, but, back in the 50's it was a pretty common practice to put a little water in the oil bath air cleaners on cars. The theory was adding some humidity, thus oxygen, to the incoming air. Something like those 100 mpg carburetor theories that float around.

Putting a lighter spring on the accelerator pedal helped give the old car a lot more pep also. Fooled a few.
