I purchased this plow recently and I am trying to determine if it is a no. 8 or not. I already have a 3 bottom no. 8 and this one looks to be a little heavier built. The bracing between the beams is round on this one. It is flat steel on my other plow. Maybe differences from the date of production?

The tail wheel assembly looks like a 'Lil Genius. But the genius came out during the war on steel. My Dad had a #8 but I can not remember the tail wheel assembly but he traded a genius for it. Check with the Plowman in Ohio!

Thank you Steve! I was pretty sure it wasn't a no. 8. I've never heard of a #15. I did a little research and I found some pics, it's definatley a #15. I'm hoping to fix it up to use it behind my 49 M

The #8 is the "Little Genius." It was manufactured from the late 1920's through 1960 first by P&O then IH.

Prior to that was the "Little Wonder" which was a #2 if I'm not mistaken.

Both names were used with other models of plows as well if I'm not mistaken. I think the #15 and/or #16 were also marketed as "Little Genius."

I will find out this spring!

Here is the M, it has just been rebuilt with the overbore kit. It came off the same farm as the plow.

Thanks! No it's not an original blue ribbon but I decided to put one on it because I have had every nut and bolt out of it and everything was redone. The tractor was all original before I got it. It had sat in a barn for 30 plus years and the engine was stuck. I decided not to paint because I love the look of them in their original work clothes.

I have a few restored, my M is one of them...but I'd much rather see a nice, well kept original. Yours is a beaut...

I have an original Blue Ribbon Program tractor and have yet to see another.
