Propane F20?

I was looking at the publication put out by the national IH harvester club and a picture in it looked like a propane powered F20. Was there ever a propane powered F20 or did someone make it. It clearly shows the propane tank but I wasn't sure if it was a F20 or F30 but I thought it looked small for a F30.

Not positive, but I think SM was the first in IH to have optional Propane. They may have been farmed out, but were official. Jim

There was many many tractors converted to LP in the late 40s here in Iowa. Make and model didn't make any problem price was 9 cents a gallon which helped sell the product. This was before factory installed conversions and local shops were quite busy sometimes.

As far as I know,SuperM was the first 'factory' propane. However, many tractors were converted(before/after) the SM.Especially in Texas and the 'deep south'.

Found a picture of an F20 with propane.

But i think that was a another field installed L,P. conversion, ,I got a old neighbor that put one on his U or E Allis Chalmers,in the early 1940's, and his looks like a factory installed one if there every was one. But he also raised the compression, added 4 inches into the handle of the crank, but still nobody could crank it, they had to keep a team of horse's to pull it every day to pull start the tractor, but eventually he installed a starter off a La Case,[i think].

The F20LP that was sold at the national IH collectors auction in nebraska was a conversion. I didnt buy the tractor, but all the LP components came off it at the auction and made their way to my shed. I could go out and look at the tank tag and see if it has a date on it
