Grey Market 384a

Has anyone on here ever heard of a 384a tractor which was built for the Japanese (or Asian) market? I work for a CaseIH dealer and we have a potential customer who is looking for parts/information for one of these that he purchased without knowing anything about grey market tractors. It is very similar in appearance to a 284, 4wd with a Nissan engine, but apparently the transmission linkages are not the same, and it is a very different beast from the 384 built for the American market. Anyone ever seen or heard of one of these?

News to me...likely Kimco built like the 284.

It's not a like the 383 ?

No, it looks almost exactly like a 284. His is 4wd. I send him some parts breakdowns from a 284 because of the similarity, but he is telling me that his transmission linkages are completely different. From the pics he sent, it looks like his shifters are on the left side of the operator's area instead of in the center, as depicted in the parts drawings.

Hi, Is it a German built with 3 cyl D-155 Diesel engine, gear shifters on the left side like 484. One shift lever for Gears 1-4 in either Z or H pattern and another lever for Rev-Hi-Lo?

The 83 series in the link I posted look like a 284 but have the shifters on the left side?

Do you have pics of his 384A?

That does appear to be the case. I haven't been able to find any parts breakdowns for it, though. Appears I only have access to the North American version.
