They recently discovered WWII Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet in Solomon Islands
and there is a picture of the IHC tug on the deck. You can go to the USNI News Daily Update to see the photo
 
That is for sure a Hebard shop mule. Made by Hebard Company in Chicago using IH parts and parts Hebard fabricated. Has a Farmall A engine, clutch, transmission and final drives. At a show years ago, I talked with a person that had served on WW II air craft carrier and he told me they used the Hebards. They had orders to push them overboard should they fail to start during flight operations. I have seen a few of the navy versions over the years. The navy versions are modified as compared to the civilian ones like the one I own. The navy ones had 18 inch rear tires whereas the civilian ones usually had 24 inch tires like the A. Front tires were smaller too as well as other safety modifications for use on shipboard.
