Im doing a rebuild on a D239 engine that i want to put into my 574. My first question is which o-ring do i use on the sleeves. The red dot(bigger) or yellow dot. Supposedly its dependent on the serial # but I cant find anywhere in the manual that tells you which one to use. The serial # on the good block im using is 239DC20050605*
Thanks in advance!

Which O ring to use depends on the groove diameter, I had the same question when I replaced the sleeves in my Hydro 84 with the D-246. I found the dimensions listed in the I&T 886 book if I recall as the six cylinder engines had two sizes also. Never found that info in the four cylinder I&T books.

Hi, see photo of chart that shows Serial Numbers and O-Rings.

On closer inspection my serial # is 239DC2D050605*. So assuming its 050605 and a D239 I should use the larger red dot.
The guy I bought the block from had just put the new sleeves in and that's as far as he went before he sold the tractor he was going to use the engine in. I bought the block and all his new parts still in boxes.
The sleeves are new but I though I should pull one out and check it before I just went forward and he used the smaller yellow ring. Guess its a good thing I did check!
