guys: here is a pic the block number and of the pistons, from what you guys said looks like they should be the slip fit sleeves like in the early models. pistons 4,5 and 6 when I removed the pistons the sleeves came up with them, pistons 1,2 and 3 the sleeves stay in the block so I am making a puller to get them out and making a.001 uncut pilot to fit in the sleeve to guide when pulling. as I got in to this and info you guys gave me I am wondering if this is what happened. everything I taken apart has IH on it yet even the rod bearings but the head gasket says fel-pro and when I took the head bolts lose the did not seem torqued down like they should be, I have not looked that up yet but assume they should be around the 90 footlbs range. I have all the tools to do a bore check and depth mic etc with no problem, I have found shims under 2 of the lips of the sleeves and one of them was broke it was around .003 think.
I won't get to do much until Thursday as we have other thing going on this week. if you see something else let me know and thanks for your help.

I'd make the puller plate step .010 SMALLER than the sleeve OD to make sure it does not damage the block bore in any way. The early slip fit sleeves did sometimes use shims to get all six sleeves close to the same height if needed. Parts list shows .003 and .005 shims if needed.

oooohhhh!!!! broken rings! that engine has been started with starting fluid. don't ever use that on these engines. no wonder you have low compression. not the first time I have seen pistons in that shape.
