1086 slow hydraulics

How many of you 86 series owners have left the 3 pt lever in the lowered position where it is in the slow drop slot and then couldn't figure out why the hydraulic remotes were slow? This morning my son was using the 1086 to power the filter crusher. I walked in the shop door while he was crushing and he told me the '10 didn't have the hydraulic power it should, the crusher ran slow and didn't crush the filters as well. My first thought was "oh gawd, there went the hydraulic pump". Then I remembered he had the 3 pt snow blower lowered to the ground and he probably had the lever way down in the slow drop slot. I crawled in the cab and sure enough, that was the problem. I think I was a happier camper than he was when the hydraulics went back to normal speed. LOL

That happens a lot. When that position control lever is in that action control range it has two functions. One is to slow the drop and other is to slow the raise of hitch. It slows drop by restricting the flow coming back from the hitch but it slows the raise by dumping some of the oil from the pump. The father you move the lever into that range of a properly adjusted hitch, the more oil it dumps.

Many times it comes in handy to use that range to slow the raise time when using the aux valves . Only problem is the hitch has to be all the way down and will need to be secured so it does not hit the tires if flopping around. This is assuming you have nothing on the hitch of course.

This tractor used to be my big horse. One of the three point mounted implements I pulled required remote hoses too and for the life of me I can't remember what it was. When I lowered the implement I would shove the three point lever way ahead to slow down the drop but if I left it there the remote cylinder on that implement would work painfully slow. It took me a few minutes to figure it out. After i knew what was happening I would pull the three point lever back out of the bottom slot after the implement was lowered. After thinking about it I'm pretty sure I was pulling a chisel plow and applying anhydrous with it. The on-off valve for the anhydrous valve was hydraulically activated.
